Martin Godbout, OC, PhD
Chairman of the Board

Dr. Godbout was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Genome Canada from April 2000 to October 2009, and was formerly the Senior Vice President of BioCapital and President and General Manager of Société Innovatech Québec. He was a member of the board of the “Conseil de la science et de la technologies du Québec” from October 1996 to 2004 and has been an advisory member of several Canadian biopharmaceutical venture firms such as SGF Santé, Société Innovatech du Grand Montréal and Royal Bank Ventures Inc. In 2005, Dr. Godbout was named Officer of the Order of Canada. He was also awarded the Grand Prix Recherche from the Québec Mental Illness Foundation for his previous work on Alzheimer’s disease in 1991, as well as a “Prix Summa” in 1994 from the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering of the Université Laval. In 1994, he also founded BioContact Québec which has become one of the most important biopharmaceutical symposiums in North America. He holds a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Physiology and Molecular Endocrinology from Université Laval. In March 2006, Dr. Godbout was shortlisted by the editors of Nature Biotechnology, as one of 20 nominees who have made the most remarkable and influential contribution to biotech in the past ten years in the “Bio-Business in the Rest of the World” category.

André Archimbaud

Mr. Archimbaud is an executive with extensive experience in the life sciences sector, serving in various roles in the industry for more than 25 years. He held progressively senior roles in sales, marketing, and business development in his 20 years with Ipsen, a European pharmaceutical company, and contributed to its international expansion. Mr. Archimbaud then took on the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Vancouver-based Kinetek Pharmaceuticals Inc., a biotechnology start-up recognized for its expertise in the field of molecular biology (kinases and phosphatases inhibitors). Most recently he served as Senior Vice President, Life Sciences for the Société générale de financement du Québec (SGF), a government-owned investment entity. Mr. Archimbaud is currently working as an advisor at Archimbaud Conseils, offering consultancy to investors and biopharmaceutical companies, sharing with them his wide range of international professional networks and experience. In addition, Mr. Archimbaud is a director of MedMira Inc., a company that is developing and commercializing rapid-flow diagnostics and services as chairman of the board of Biosyntech Canada Inc., a company developing thermogels for cartilage repair.

Donald F. Corcoran

Mr. Corcoran has been MethylGene's President and Chief Executive Officer since its inception. Mr. Corcoran has over 27 years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and health care industries. His background includes functional and staff responsibilities in the areas of finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, business development and acquisitions/strategic planning. He was instrumental in the creation of MethylGene Inc. during his tenure as Vice President, International Operations and Business Development at Hybridon Inc. (now Idera Phamaceuticals Inc.), a publicly-traded Cambridge, MA based drug research and development company. During his tenure at Hybridon Inc., Mr. Corcoran was responsible for establishing a number of corporate alliances with multinational healthcare companies. Prior to that time, he had served as Business Planning Manager at Schering-Plough Corporation and served in a variety of managerial and staff positions at Eli Lilly and Company from 1982 to 1991. Mr. Corcoran is a director of two private companies: Tranzyme Inc. (North Carolina) a private United States development stage biotechnology company, and its Canadian subsidiary, Tranzyme Pharma Inc. (Sherbrooke, Québec). Mr. Corcoran received a BA in Economics and Biology from Union College, NY and an MBA from Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management.

 

David J. Drutz, M.D.

Dr. Drutz’s career spans clinical medicine and patient care, basic and clinical research, pharmaceutical and biotechnology operational and research management, and venture capital. Dr. Drutz is President of Pacific Biopharma Associates in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and has been, since 1999, a General Partner with Pacific Rim Ventures Co. Ltd., an international venture capital investment firm focused on life science with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of two private companies: Tranzyme Inc. (North Carolina), and its Canadian subsidiary, Tranzyme Pharma Inc. (Sherbrooke, Quebec). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of DARA BioSciences Inc., serving on the company’s audit, compensation, corporate governance and nominating committees, as well as a director of Vaxin Inc., a private vaccine development company in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Drutz is also a member of the board of the Carolina Student Biotechnology Network (CSBN, University of North Carolina), an IRC 501(3)(c) non-profit organization for graduate students pursuing careers in the life sciences. During his earlier academic career, Dr. Drutz was Professor of Medicine and Microbiology and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas Heath Science Center in San Antonio, TX. While in Texas, he founded and directed the Center for Cell Regulation under National Science Foundation funding. He was subsequently Vice President, Biological Sciences and Vice President, Clinical Investigation for Smith, Kline & French Laboratories in Philadelphia, also holding adjunct professorships at the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University School of Medicine. In 1990, he was appointed Vice President, Clinical Development and Director for Daiichi Pharmaceutical Corporation, in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Dr. Drutz also served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of two drug discovery and drug development companies, Sennes Drug Innovations Inc. in Houston, TX and Inspire Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Durham, NC. Dr. Drutz holds a BA and MD from the University of Louisville and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Disease Society of America. He is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and holds a current Certificate of Director Education.

Louis Lacasse

 

Mr. Lacasse has been President of GeneChem Management Inc. since 1997 and Managing Partner of AgeChem Financial Inc. since 2006. GeneChem and AgeChem are managing three life sciences venture capital funds which have invested in more than 40 companies in Canada, USA and Europe. Prior to joining GeneChem, Mr. Lacasse worked at the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec, where he held several positions between 1987 and 1997, including Vice President of Sofinov, a private placement subsidiary of the Caisse which focused on biotechnology, information technology and industrial technology. Before joining the Caisse, Mr. Lacasse worked as a Financial Analyst with the National Bank of Canada, as account manager at the Bank of Montréal and as Project Manager at the Centre de Développement Technologique. He has also owned a small retail company. Mr. Lacasse has been appointed to the Boards of Directors of many private and public companies. Among these were BioChem Pharma Inc., Axcan Pharma Inc., Targeted Genetics Inc., and Idun Pharmaceuticals Inc. He is currently on the boards of three publicly-traded companies (including MethylGene), Chairman of two audit committees (including MethylGene’s) and Chairman of one compensation committee. Mr. Lacasse holds a BA in Finance from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales of Montréal and an MBA from McGill University.

Colin R. Mallet

 

Mr. Mallet has worked in senior executive positions in the pharmaceutical industry in Canada, the United Kingdome, Switzerland, Sweden and Southeast Asia. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sandoz Canada Inc. (now Novartis AG) for several years and is a past Chair of Canada’s Research-based Pharmaceutical Companies. He has been a director of seven Canadian publicly-traded pharmaceutical companies and is currently a director of Isotechnika Pharma Inc. a TSX-listed company and Medgenesis Inc., a private Company. Mr. Mallet has been a member of the corporate governance and compensation committees for all of these companies and is currently a member of the corporate governance and compensation committees for Isotechnika Pharma Inc.

 

Jay Moorin

 

Mr. Moorin is a founding General Partner at ProQuest Investments. He is a healthcare executive with senior management experience in the biotechnology, investment banking and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to founding ProQuest, Mr. Moorin served as Chairman and CEO of Magainin Pharmaceuticals (now Genaera Corporation). Previously, he was Managing Director of Healthcare Banking at The Bear Stearns Companies Inc. Prior to his banking career, Mr. Moorin was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at a division of E.R. Squibb & Sons Limited. He has served on the Board of Directors of ACMI Corporation, Epic Therapeutics Inc. Guava Technologies Inc., Pharmion Corporation and Gloucester Pharmaceuticals. Currently, Mr. Moorin Serves on the Board of Directors of Acurian Inc., Aires Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Eagle Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Moorin holds the position of Adjunct Senior Fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He received a BA in Economics with distinction from the University of Michigan.
